Grandap passed away a little more than a month ago. According to Mom and Dad, Grandpa is now resting peacefully with our loving Heavenly Father.
During my first few days, Grandpa would visit me frequently despite walking gingerly with a walker. Since he was afraid of dropping me, he was quite reluctant to hold me during my first few months. Because of this Grandma, Mom, and Dad thought Grandpa and I wasn’t close. This lasted for three four months until one day I discovered some interesting toys (eye glasses and pen) in Grandpa’s pocket. Despite rebuff from Mom and Dad, Grandpa didn’t seem to mind that I played with his belongings. My relationship with Grandpa grew from here and “Grandpa” was the first name I said even before Mom or Dad.
Grandpa would always remember me even when he was battling with sickness during his last few months. In return, I would perform my little dance, ride my little rocker, and turn on the radio for Grandpa to cheer him up. When Grandpa was confined to the hospital bed, only seeing my photos and videos would bring a genuine smile to his face. All I could do was to phone him to pray for him by saying Amen and imitate a plane flying by or a puppy yelping.
Spending only a year and a half with Grandpa was too short. But there were many sweet moments. I particularly treasured the times when Grandpa held me or grabbed my legs. I also enjoyed going to Berkeley, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and Tokyo with Grandpa. I am very blessed to have such a loving Grandfather. Grandpa, I will forever remember you and love you until I see you one day in Heaven.
